The Macha Research Trust (MRT) and the Macha Mission Hospital (MMH) have made significant progress in reducing the number of Malaria patients infected in the area around a small isolated rural village Macha in the Southern province of Zambia.
Since 2003 the two rural organisations cooperate to offer an integrated approach with research, diagnostics, training and clinical care. This integrated approach has proven to be successful with a significant reduction (90%) of malaria infected patients.
Based on the successful implementation of the Malaria program, MRT and MMH want to expand the scope of their activities to HIV/Aids and TB. The cooperation between MRT and MMH is dedicated to reduce the morbidity and mortality of the main infectious diseases in Zambia.
